Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council (?YGC?) recently held their annual dinner at Mid-America Science Park. The youth were honored for their service to the community and grants were awarded for youth projects. The YGC is a program of the Scott County Community Foundation.

Voting members of the YGC include Addie Borden, Sydney Craig, Hayden Garten, Rachael Mount, Lucas Toppe and Sophie Voiles of Scottsburg Middle School; Miranda Baker, Gavin Borden, Hannah Brown, Gavin Collins, Abby Colson, Macy Colson, Hannah Dickerson, Elle Fleenor, Macy Funk, Ryan Howser, Ally Justice, Eric Marcum, Eliza Mount, Ethan Mullins, Olivia Reul, Brinley Soloe, Lyla Waskom and Logan Weilbaker of Scottsburg High School.

Officers are Eliza Mount, president; Miranda Baker, vice president; Hannah Dickerson, secretary; and Logan Weilbaker, treasurer. Committee chairpersons include Ryan Howser, asset development; Elle Fleenor and Hannah Brown, grants; Gavin Borden and Eric Marcum, governance; and Gavin Collins, community service.

All youth start their service on the Community Service Committee. This committee performs monthly service projects throughout the community, such as stocking shelves at the Clearinghouse, bringing Valentines to senior citizens, delivering appreciation bags to police officers, placing flags on veterans? gravesites for Memorial Day and much more. Members on this committee include Sam Prather, Grayson Squires and Brooks Swank of Austin Middle School; Nick Henderson and Jillian Walker of Austin High School; Kenzie Carter of Christian Academy of Indiana; Braelyn Kleehammer and Brooklyn Moon of Scottsburg Elementary; Aubrey Asdell, Hayden Asdell, Noah Bagwell, Isabella Campbell, Kellan Carter, Mia Collins, Chace Coomer, Kati Craig, Aidan Crites, Jaylyn Cross, Mayson Cutter, Abby Doriot, Chandler Elliott, Lexi Edwards, Carter Gricius, Colby Hall, Skylar Herald, Karson Higdon, Olivia Higginbotham, Caden Howell, Brooklyn Hunley, Emily Justice, Melea Luttrell, Isabelle Marcum, Sydney Mayer, Katie Montgomery, Chloe Mullins, Caden Richardson, Ellie Richardson, Bryton Richey, Dylan Roberts, Claire Routt, Grace Routt, Ella Siekman, Jackson Taylor, Haley Thomas, Hannah Thomas, Lydia Wolf of Scottsburg Middle School; Jenna Buckner, Jackson Campbell, Kinlee Craig, Landon Gricius, Jameson Hale, Hannah Stutsman, Alex Witt and Zoe Zellers of Scottsburg High School; Sophie Gricius, Jace Luttrell, Cason Owens, Lily Siekman and Mia Voiles of Vienna-Finley Elementary School.

Graduating seniors were also honored for their service. They included Macy Colson, Miranda Baker, Eliza Mount, Hannah Dickerson and Olivia Reul. Missing is Kenzie Carter.

Macy Colson was honored as the voting member who has served the most hours, and Braelyn Kleehammer was honored as the Community Service Committee member who has served the most hours.

Applications for new members on the Community Service Committee should be submitted by Aug. 1. Interviews will be conducted by the youth for anyone wishing to become a member of the Community Service Committee.
