Students with the Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council (YGC), a program of the Scott County Community Foundation, recently collected 578 items and $30 from the community for the Scott County Community Clearinghouse. The collection was part of the Souper Bowl of Caring, a nationwide effort for churches, schools and the community to collect money and food near Super Bowl weekend, in order to fight hunger and poverty in local communities. This is the sixth year the YGC has participated, and the largest collection to-date for the members. The Clearinghouse assisted 584 families in January. Shown are Scott County Clearinghouse Executive Director Nelson Spaulding with YGC members: (kneeling): Lauren Turner, Elle Fleenor, Hannah Dickerson, Lyndie Foster; (standing, from left): Gavin Collins, Derek Everhart, Miranda Baker, Jordan Shuler, Caleb White, Kaleb Mount, Isaak Mount, Tori Rone, Ryan Howser, Lindsey Boswell, Evan Howser, Lyla Waskom, Emma Waskom, Haley Mullins, Alexa Howser, Tyler White and Eliza Mount.
