Scott County Community Foundation is creating a new women’s philanthropy initiative. The group is designed to foster connection among women as they come together to champion causes that matter to them. Women will meet quarterly to socialize, learn, and inspire one another. The first event kicks off with a fun and interactive charcuterie class and wine tasting led by Jeanine Balentine with The Crafty Platter.

Join other women for an indulgent journey through the world of cheese and charcuterie in this hands-on tasting class! Perfect for food enthusiasts and novices alike, this class will guide participants through the art of pairing artisanal cheeses with a selection of cured meats, accompaniments, and beverages.

In this interactive experience, attendees will learn about the origins, flavors, and textures of various cheeses and charcuterie, as well as the best practices for assembling a stunning charcuterie board. The expert instructor will share tips on selecting complementary pairings, including fruits, nuts, spreads, and wines, to elevate your tasting experience.

Throughout the class, guests have the opportunity to sample a diverse range of cheeses—from creamy bries to sharp cheddars—and a variety of charcuterie, including prosciutto, salami, and pâté. Engage your senses as you explore the nuances of flavor and texture, and discover how to create beautiful presentations that will impress your guests.

Whether you’re looking to enhance your entertaining skills or simply enjoy a delightful evening of culinary exploration, this cheese and charcuterie tasting class promises to be a deliciously memorable experience. Bring your appetite and your curiosity, and prepare to savor the art of pairing!

This special event will be held Thursday, April 17 from 6-8 p.m. at The 82 Building, 82 E. McClain Ave., Scottsburg. The cost is $25 per person, with registration due by April 11. You may register here: https://www.zeffy.com/ticketing/scott-county-womens-philanthropy-charcuterie-class

Plans for future events include a flower bouquet class, fashion show, jewelry making class and more. Members of Scott County Women’s Philanthropy will learn about causes in Scott County and determine which organizations to fund using part of their membership fee.

“Never underestimate what a group of committed and conscientious women can do,” shared Scott County Community Foundation board member and women’s philanthropy committee chair Jennifer Coward.  “This is an opportunity for Scott County women to come together and not only make lasting friendships, but also combine our resources to impact our county for generations to come. I truly believe that the Scott County Women’s Philanthropy group is a game changer for our area!”
