What Is a Community Foundation?
The concept of a community foundation is as ingenious as it is simple: it is a means to build over time, substantial endowment funds for a community through contributions large and small. It is a way for people of all means to make a lasting difference in their community.
A community foundation serves donors, non-profit organizations and the community by building permanent endowed funds for philanthropic purposes. It funds the arts, education, health, and human services, the environment, our youth, and our community.
A foundation can serve as a neutral convener, bringing diverse opinions and people together for the good of the whole community. It can also serve as a facilitator and enabler for special projects.
