We have?welcomed Abigail Tremain to our?team.? Abby is the new Career and College Counselor intern at the Scott County Community Foundation under a program funded by Lilly Endowment. The Community Foundation Internships (CFI) program is part of Lilly?s goals to help build healthy Indiana community foundations and to provide college students with real-life work experiences.
Abby?s duties involve counseling students at Austin and Scottsburg high schools with career and college choices, scholarship and financial aid opportunities, assisting students with 21st Century Scholarship requirements, coordinating job shadow/intern opportunities, coordinating college visits and more.
Abby recently began her final semester at Hanover College where she is majoring in political science with minors in anthropology and international studies. In addition, she currently holds a leadership position for an on-campus organization that volunteers at the Madison Juvenile Correctional Facility, which she has been involved in for the past three years. After graduation, she hopes to work for a non-profit organization in the area of community development. Having worked for non-profit organizations in the Washington, D.C. area and Indianapolis in the past, she is excited to bring what she has learned from her previous experiences to the local Scott County community.
?I?m very honored to have this opportunity through the Scott County Community Foundation to work with the area?s two high schools,? said Abby. ?Preparing for college and future career opportunities is a very important part of the high school experience and I hope the work that I do with students and administrators in these areas will have a positive impact for everyone involved.?
