The Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council (YGC) 2012 Tennis Open was another successful event, announced YGC Asset Development committee chairperson Carmen Boley. The YGC is a program of the Scott County Community Foundation. The fundraiser supports youth in Scott County and was held June 22-23 at Scottsburg High School. The event raised over $600, which goes to support youth in Scott County.

Event winners include: Men?s Singles, Jimmy White; Women?s Singles, Carmen Boley; Men?s Doubles, James Cruz and Brennan Lucas; Boys Junior Singles, Isaac Everitt; Mixed Doubles, Tyler White and Shawnee Bayes; Boys Junior Doubles, Tyler White and Braxton Soloe; Girls Junior Doubles, Shawnee Bayes and Carmen Boley. There were 25 participants.

?This year was a major success for the YGC’s tennis tourney,? said Boley. ?It would have been nice to have more people participating, but everyone had a wonderful time and hopefully others will join the fun next year!?

The Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council is comprised of 30 youth from throughout Scott County, in grades five through 12. Their goals are to provide leadership development, positive peer support, learn about philanthropy and serving the community, form a partnership with other youth and adults, and grow their endowment fund for the future.
