In an effort to assist nonprofits with capacity building, the Scott County Community Foundation will be hosting two lunch and learn sessions. Nonprofit staff, board members, and volunteers will learn about marketing and fundraising.

The first session in the series will be “What Makes You, You?” Nonprofit branding is the way an organization communicates who they are and the heart of their work. You will learn how to define your brand as well as understand and create ways to market your nonprofit. It will be held Wednesday, April 24 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Scott County Lifelong Learning Center on Community Way in Scottsburg.

The second session will be “How to Raise Money Without an Event!” Most nonprofits think of special events when the topic of fundraising comes up, but there’s so much more! Are you ready to ask for money? Learn about the importance of a mission and case statement, board engagement, and types of campaigns. The session will be held Wednesday, May 1 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Scott County Lifelong Learning Center on Community Way in Scottsburg.

The sessions will be presented by John Edwards and Mark Eddy with Leadership Southern Indiana (LSI). Scott County Community Foundation partnered with LSI in 2020 to expand their service area to Scott County. Their mission is to engage, develop and mobilize regional leaders who will serve and transform our community. They have numerous programs and events, with more information found at www.leaderhipsi.org.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with Leadership Southern Indiana to bring these nonprofit courses to our community,” said Scott County Community Foundation Executive Director Jaime Toppe. “These sessions will help make our organizations better at fulfilling our mission and services to the community. Having an effective board is crucial to a nonprofit’s success whether it is an all-volunteer organization or one with paid staff. Marketing and fundraising are key components to this success.”

The cost to attend each session is $10, and includes lunch and materials. Registration is required by one week prior to each session. Please call 812-752-2057 or email info@scottcountyfoundation.org.
