Youth Council Attends YP Jam 2008

Several members of the Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council recently attended the Youth Philanthropy Initiative of Indiana’s YP Jam 2008 at Butler University. Shown from left are Hunter Steinkamp, Brandon Boswell, Kayla Griffen, Caity Rice, Evan Comer and Jerel Taylor. The purpose of the conference was for young people interested in giving and serving to build skills, share ideas, network with fellow youth leaders, learn new ways to address community needs and develop creative philanthropic service projects. The students also participated in a community service project, donating backpacks for the Backpack Attack school supply drive and pasta for Second Helpings food drive. In addition, they wrote notes of encouragement for troops serving overseas and homeless people. The Council is hosting a booth at the Back-to-School Bash on Monday, August 4. Visitors can purchase lollipops and sno-cones, and there will be a raffle for a $50 gas card. They will also be recruiting new members.
