The Youth Philanthropy Initiative of Indiana has announced an exciting opportunity for local communities to increase their youth philanthropy endowments. Through the generosity of the Paul Ogle Foundation, Inc., Scott County, along with six other southern Indiana counties, has the opportunity to receive up to $10,000 in matching funds.
The purpose of the matching grant is for the Scott County Community Foundation to engage youth in raising funds for the growth of the Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council Fund. The amount raised will be matched dollar for dollar, with the matching funds added to the endowment. The money actually raised by the youth and community may be used for youth projects or to add to the endowment fund.
“It is an honor for the Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council to receive the matching grant from the Youth Philanthropy Initiative of Indiana,” said youth council president Ali Richey. “I look forward to working with our members to come up with creative fundraising activities so we will be able to receive the full match of $10,000. I am very excited about the future youth programs and initiatives this will fund in our county.”
All funds must be raised by September 2008. The Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council presented several fundraising ideas at its recent meeting. They include a dollar drive, M&M fundraiser, lollipop sales, letters to businesses and a basketball tournament.
