Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council Members Chosen

Students have been chosen for the Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council, a program of the Scott County Community Foundation. The Council is made up of students throughout Scott County that hold regular meetings, discuss ideas and hold events to raise money, and then give grants to the community for youth-related projects. The goals of the Council are to provide opportunities for leadership development, provide positive peer support, learn about philanthropy and serving the community, form a partnership with other youth and adults, and grow the Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council Fund for the future.
The following students were chosen to be on the Council: Carmen Boley, 5th grade student at Scottsburg Elementary; Brandon Boswell, 5th grade at Vienna-Finley Elementary; Evan Comer, 10th grade at Scottsburg High School; Olivia Freeman, 5th grade at Scottsburg Elementary; Kayla Griffen, 7th grade at Austin Middle School; Ronnie Houchens, 7th grade at Scottsburg Middle School; Lauren Howser, 6th grade at Scottsburg Middle School; Caitlin Rice, 7th grade at Austin Middle School; Ali Richey, 12th grade at Scottsburg High School; Braxton Sole, 5th grade at Lexington Elementary; Hunter Steinkamp, 7th grade at Scottsburg Middle School; and Jerel Taylor, 8th grade at Scottsburg Middle School.
The Council has elected the following officers: Ali Richey, president; Evan Comer, vice-president; Brandon Boswell, treasurer; Caitlin Rice, secretary; and Lauren Howser, parliamentarian. The following were chosen as the chairpersons of their respective committees: Jerel Taylor, grants committee; Hunter Steinkamp, public relations committee; and Carmen Boley, asset development committee.
The Council will be meeting monthly. They will be accepting grant applications this spring, and will award almost $5,000 in grants to youth-related projects in May. Brandon Polley is the adult facilitator of the council.
