Students at Scottsburg Middle School act as an “Admission Board” for college, studying the applications of high school seniors and determining who to admit based on course selection, grade point average, SAT/ACT scores, extracurricular activities, academic/mission fit, recommendations and more. Almost 200 eighth-grade students participated in a Mock College Admission Case Studies project, which was funded through a $400 Excellence in Education grant from the Timothy Michael Wolf Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Scott County Community Foundation. Through the experience, the students were able to better understand the importance of decisions they make as they prepare for high school.
