The Indiana Youth Institute will host their 2007 Kids Count in Indiana Conference, “Youth Workers ROCK!” in December. This year’s speakers include award-winning actor, director, producer, and author Henry Winkler, and Peter Dunn, chair of the board of America’s Second Harvest – The Nation’s Food Bank Network.
The 10th annual conference will take place Dec. 5-6 at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis. The new two-day format allows youth workers increased access to workshops and a unique opportunity to network with others in their field. The conference is geared towards front-line youth workers, non-profit directors and managers, teachers, counselors, social workers, youth ministers, juvenile justice workers, child care workers, volunteers, advocates and all others who want to be their best on the job while working with Indiana children and youth.
Attendees will learn tips on fundraising and marketing, engaging parents, working with kids, community development for youth, faith-based programs, leadership and nonprofit management, and more.
The cost to attend is $150 for both days; however, four scholarship vouchers have been provided to United Way of Scott County and the Scott County Community Foundation for deserving youth workers in Scott County. Registration includes two full days of conference sessions, complimentary continental breakfast, keynote luncheon, refreshment breaks, conference materials, tote bag and the 2007 Kids Count in Indiana Data Book. Continuing Education Hours and Continuing Renewal Units may be available for certain positions.
