Scott County American Red Cross representative Francis Barnes accepts a $50 donation from the Scott County Community Foundation in honor of Dawne Gee, who served as the guest speaker at a recent women’s luncheon to promote philanthropy. Gee is a board member of her local Red Cross. Gee quoted anthropologist Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” She then explained how a 5-year-old girl in southern Indiana made a huge difference and how each person in the room could do the same.
