Bill Hoagland : Board Member -- Scott County Community Foundation

 

Family: Strong family history involved in Scottsburg/Scott County. My parents, Albert and Lenore Hoagland, were active in the community. My grandfather, Lambert Dismore, was sheriff. Married Barb Elliott from Little York in 1971. Son, Jason (wife Kariel) Hoagland and daughter, Alicia (husband Bobby) Ashley and new granddaughter Caitie Ashley.

Education/Employment: 1967 graduate of Scottsburg High School. Graduate of Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in 1969. Started career at Stewart Funeral Home in 1967. Formerly employed at funeral homes in Monticello and Lafayette, Indiana, and followed with 20 years in funeral supply sales. Returned to Scottsburg in 2000 to the family-owned Stewart Funeral Home, taking an active part in the daily operations of the funeral home as director and owner/operator.

Memberships: First Christian Church, Scottsburg Masonic Lodge, Scott County Shrine, Murat Shrine, Scottish Rite, Scott County Moose & Family Center, past president Scottsburg Kiwanis, Scottsburg Lions Club, past vice-president of Scott County Historical Society, serve on the boards of Scottsburg Cemetery Association and Scott County Historical Cemetery Association, member of the board of directors and treasurer of the Indiana Independent Funeral Directors Association, past treasurer of Scott County Democrat Club, presently serving as Vienna #3 Precinct Committeeman, and member of the Democrat Central Committee. Elected to City Council seat for District 2.

Why did you join the board? It's an absolute joy to return to my hometown and again become involved in the community, renewing old friendships, making new friends. I felt honored when Tim Railing asked me to become a member of the Community Foundation board. I like the success the Community Foundation provides to the various programs in Scott County.
