Home-Baked Goodies Available At Bake Sale

The community is invited to pick up delicious goodies at an upcoming bake sale. The Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council is holding a bake sale to raise money toward their $10,000 matching grant opportunity from the Youth Philanthropy Initiative of Indiana. The youth will be selling cookies, brownies and much more on Saturday, August 23 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Ace Hardware. Donations will be accepted for the home-baked goods.

The Council currently has over $1,400 toward their matching grant, which is available through the generosity of the Paul Ogle Foundation, and ends September 30, 2008. They also recently received news of an additional $1,000 matching grant from an anonymous donor. In addition to lollipop sales and the bake sale, they will be holding a dollar drive in the schools. They are also hosting a booth at the Back-to-School Bash, where they will sell sno-cones, lollipops and raffle for a $50 gas card.

Proceeds from the sales will go toward the Scott County Youth Grantmaking Council Fund, which is used to award money to youth-related projects in the community.
