Vital elements of releasing information to the media to get the message in print and on the air, whether it’s through a public service announcement, news release, stand-alone photo, news conference, or impressive newspaper and magazine spread. We’ll also cover smart photo tips.

Customer Service: Make ‘Em Go Bananas! April 18
A close look at what creates the WOW effect in those we servce - both inside the organization and with the public - and specifics about top-notch behavior that enables us to achieve positive responses and results. The plan is to keep getting better in all we do, and one way to do this is with a session of helpful information, interaction, fellowship, and even bananas!

Discovery of how and why men and women communicate differently and how to incorporate new insights into successful dealings and relationships.

Smart Meetings 101: Methods to This Madness, June 20
Details of effective meetings: organization, preparation, the session itself and follow-through, along with consensus building, warning signs to catch, and how to deal with common snags in the process.

Functions of a Team, July 18
Replacing “dysfunction” with function. Exploring major pitfalls and snags of working effectively together and learning how to change behaviors can change the workplace, the home, and relationships overall. Map for Success: Marketing Plans, October 17
The starting point for communicating your message and enhancing your chances of capturing interest and participation. You’re sold on what you do. How can you best sell others? There’s wise strategy involved, along with reaching your targeted markets, establishing timelines, and following through with contacts in a number of ways. Such a plan is your roadmap. Don’t leave the office without it!

The series will be held monthly from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Lifelong Learning Center. Lunch will be provided, and the seminars are open to anyone who is interested. There is no charge for attending. Please call 752-2057 to reserve your spot.

Cindy Kanning is a corporate communications and management consultant and a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University. Prior to founding her own business 12 years ago, she directed marketing and communications for a number of corporations and non-profits in the region, including being senior editor in the Corporate Communications Department at LG&E.
