2008 Lilly Scholarships Available

Scholarships are now available for the 2008 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. Since its inception in 1998 at the Scott County Community Foundation, 23 students in Scott County have received full tuition to the college of their choice.
Indiana ranks near the bottom of the 50 states in the percentage of its residents 25 years old who hold a baccalaureate degree. The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program is designed to raise the level of educational attainment in Indiana and increase awareness of the potential of Indiana’s community foundations to improve the quality of life of the state’s residents.
The program offers four-year, full-tuition scholarships to Indiana students who intend to work toward a baccalaureate degree at any accredited public or private college or university in Indiana. The scholarship also provides $800 per year for required books and equipment.
Applications for Scott County students will be due Friday, Jan. 18, 2008. Essays will be written on Tuesday, Nov. 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Austin High School, and on Monday, Dec. 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Scottsburg High School.
