OVO Head Start teaches literacy to parents

Read the article below:
Ohio Valley Opportunities Head Start teacher Rosalie Pedigo reads a book to children and their parents at the first literacy night while Sheila Creech, the Center Director in Scott County, looks on. The purpose of the evening is to train parents/guardians on how to get more learning out of books rather than just reading to the children. The night’s theme was “I am special” and included dinner and crafts. Sixteen parents and children attended. “It was a good time for parents to bond and to network with one another,” said Creech. There will be two more literacy nights: March 17’s theme will be “Stone Soup” and April 28 will be “The Rainbow Fish.” The literacy activities were made possible by a $1,000 grant from the Scott County Community Foundation.
